The Terrace Training & Enterprise Centre
Following an intensive skills audit undertaken in 2004 by an external organisation CDDT applied for and received a substantial grant from The Big Lottery Fund to open a Training and Enterprise Centre on the ground floor of The Terrace to run alongside the Conference facilities already in situ.
The Centre aims to create a comfortable, approachable setting for people from the South Yorkshire wide area to access. Courses will be delivered in a much more flexible way than most other training centres. By listening to what type of courses potential learners want and when they want them to run, Advisors at the Centre hope to engage people from a mix of backgrounds to get back in to learning.
The Enterprise part of the Centre provides a ‘space’ for budding entrepreneurs who have already made or, are on the verge of making that leap in to self-employment. Four state of the art computer workstations equipped with the most up to date software are available for anyone’s use, to help with research, web design, leaflet design or emailing etc.
Packages available include; Macromedia Dreamweaver (web design), Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Photoshop (literature design). The Centre is also equipped with colour printers, scanner and photocopier.

Workstations can be pre-booked or you can take your chance and just turn up between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday (some late nights are available on request, please call 01709 866466).
The Centre opened its doors to the public on Monday 19 September 2005 after an official opening on 15 September, when Rodney Bickerstaffe kindly ‘officiated’ the launch.
The Training and Enterprise Centre will open each week day from 10.00 am until 4.00 pm with some evening courses available. Training staff want to offer as much flexibility as resources allow to encourage people from all walks of life to access the Centre.
We would like to thank all our funders for making The Training and Enterprise Centre possible, these include; The Big Lottery Fund, the European Regional Development Fund, Neighborhood Learning in Deprived Communities, via Doncaster Learning Partnership from The Learning and Skills Council, Learning Pays, Yorkshire Forward and several other bodies.
Childcare and Travel Fares
The Terrace has sought funding to offer potential learners free childcare at one of the Denaby and Conisbrough Nurseries or the Crèche (subject to availability). When enrolling on a course please ask one of our Advisors about childcare.
If you are attending a course at The Terrace and you are in receipt of benefits or Working Tax Credits, it is possible for you to reclaim any travel costs incurred. Please hand in your bus/train ticket on the day of your course.
Corporate Training
If you are a company who has particular training needs for a number of staff, our Advisors would be happy to organise tailor-made training at very competitive prices. Please note, we specialise in team building courses and would be very happy to discuss our team building programmes with you.
Call 01709 866466 and ask to speak to someone on the Training Team to discuss your requirements.
