'Food for Health' DVD

Tuesday 11th December 2007

Improving the health of the nation has grown in importance over the last few years. In our ever changing world we have become a consumer society. This is particularly true of food and the increasing levels of obesity and poor diet have risen to the top of the agenda. In our small way we want to contribute towards efforts that tackle this problem. As a result we commissioned the 'Food for Health' DVD to support the ongoing efforts to reduce health inequalities and promote healthier lifestyles in our community.

This DVD has been produced by Steve Rayner from Alt Productions and showcases a number of the recipes developed as part of the 'Healthy Eating' programme delivered at The Terrace between April and June 2007. This programme included training delivered by Groundwork Dearne Valley on growing your own vegetables and a series of master classes delivered by local chef, Michael Price, on cooking healthy meals using fresh ingredients. This programme was made possible by support from Doncaster Community Empowerment Network's Grants Scheme with funding from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund. We thank them for their support.

The main purpose of this DVD is educational, but we also hope to entertain. We hope you find the DVD both enjoyable and informative.

Clips from the DVD can also be viewed online at www.cddt.co.uk/foodforhealth and www.doncaster.tv
